Counselling is an old and powerful modality that provides you with an opportunity to unwind your mental, emotional and physical knots. Working with an experienced counsellor can break the cycle of destructive behaviours, thoughts and feelings, and teach you how to bring yourself back to centre. Counselling will enable you to relax and slow down sufficiently to gain a new perspective on your problems.
By developing a stronger and more confident personality you will feel able to cope with modern life’s stresses and strains. At the core of my practice is the elementary work of just sitting my clients. In the free 20 minute consultation I offer a calm and receptive presence where you are encouraged to offload your problem so that we can see what we might do together. The key to my work is compassion both for yourselves and those you live and work with. I sit with you in a non-judgemental way we develop an empathy that helps you come to terms with your problems and provides the foundation for developing yourself.

Many people have chosen to work with me because I offer practical help that really makes a difference to people’s lives. I am known to be an effective and professional counsellor with a thorough understanding of the challenges life throws at our mental health. I encourage my clients to be autonomous in their own lives and ultimately I want all my clients to be genuinely self-governing and not dependent on myself or anybody else. My clients often choose to work with me for the following difficulties:
- Anxiety: Social anxiety, giving presentations and attending work meetings, generalised anxiety, panic attacks, overthinking and catastrophising, etc.
- Anger: Rage attacks, the consequences of outbursts, internal self-aggression etc.
- Confidence: Low self-esteem, negative self-talk, blushing, imposter syndrome, procrastination, self-sabotage, poor body-image, isolation etc.
- Addiction: Abstinence, harm reduction, moderation etc.
- Stress: Work problems, disrupted sleep, insomnia, weight gain etc.
- Loneliness: Inability to connect with others, socially withdrawing, self-defeating behaviours
- Relationships: Communication issues, avoidance, jealousy, establishing boundaries, mistrust etc.
- Bereavement: Complex grief, trouble processing loss, overwhelming emotions etc.
- Other problems: Insecurity, depression, lack of motivation and procrastination, nail biting, obsessive thoughts and compulsions etc.

Without conscious and decisive action, most of us are limited by our beliefs and enslaved by our emotions. Unhelpful thinking patterns and unwelcome feelings tend to lead to unwanted experiences. The truth is that counselling doesn’t need to be complicated. Our problems often stem from root causes shared across all people because of our deep-rooted human nature. Although trained in a diverse range of psychological modalities, I am committed to offering a straightforward counselling service focused on practical solutions and empathic communication. When necessary I can draw on my expertise in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Jungian analysis, existential psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. However, what I’ve found to work best most of the time, is to have a non-judgmental humanistic approach to counselling that is free from jargon and restrictive or outdated frameworks. Therapeutic counselling shouldn’t involve re-traumatizing people through hours and hour of endless psychotherapy.
